I have found a host motel for the Invasion! I went and checked it out today and while it is not the Ritz, it is newly rennovated, close to the Invasion and BBQ sites, and the price is right. The host motel is the Motel 6 in Ann Arbor, MI. It is only 11 miles from the Invasion site. There are plenty of restaurants within a couple of blocks. It has easy access to the highway. It is also the type of motel that you can park right outside your room. Here are a couple of pics.
They have a block of 10 rooms for Thursday night for the early birds that make it for the BBQ and a block of 20 rooms for the weekend. Price is $49.99 per night.

Just tell them that you are coming for the Type 3 VW Invasion to get in the block for us. It was suggested to make reservations early since the Special Olympics is in Ann Arbor the same week and weekend as the Invasion, so rooms will fill up fast.
