The Invasion charity this year will be The Arc of Jackson County. This is a local affiliate of an Alabama and US organization with the same name. It is a nonprofit association incorporated in 1960. They are a 501 (c) charity which assists individuals who have cognitive, intellectual and other developmental disabilities with life skills training, personal care, and job support. All but 12% of their financial support has been from governmental agencies but in recent years the county and city monetary support of this organization has not been forthcoming due to budget constraints. The remainder of their financial support comes from industrial, private donations and charitable sources. Eighty-six percent of their revenues are used for direct program support.
